Curriculum

Kindergarten

1^st Trimester

During the 1^st trimester kindergarten will work on writing our names with both capital and lower case letters and will make our first attempts at writing on lines.  We will learn our phone number, the days of the week and the months of the year.  We will meet 10 Letter People Friends and learn lots about each letter.  One of those letters will be a vowel.  We will even begin making our own Year long Alphabet Book!  We will also learn about the Dictionary.  Rhyming is explored and enjoyed by all in kindergarten.  We will learn to read our first word family of rhyming words – the at family.  We will also learn our first sight words which will include:  I, see, my, like, a, to,

                We love to create in kindergarten.  We write stories in our journals and paint wonderful pictures at Center Time.  In math we will learn how to sort, pattern, match, count to 10, write to 10, graph and recognize shapes. 

                In religion we learn how special we are, how wonderful our world is, and how much God loves us. 

                In science we love to explore our world through experiments.  In Social Studies we will learn about the fall, Fire Safety, Johnny Appleseed, Christopher Columbus, and the First Thanksgiving.  During the first trimester, we will develop many new friendships as we learn and play together.
