The computer lab offers a variety of software for student learning. Along with Microsoft Office, the lab also contains: Type to Learn, New Keys for Kids, Kid Pix Deluxe, HyperStudio, Kidspiration and Inspiration. These programs are all incorporated into the lab curriculum.

Kindergarten practices mouse and basic letter recognition skills through the use of Kid Pix.

The lower grades focus mainly on typing skills through the use of Type to Learn and Microsoft Word. Time is also taken to introduce basic PowerPoint and Excel.

The upper grade curriculum is structured around Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Publisher, Access and HyperStudio. The Internet is also used in conjunction with many of the projects.

Recently, the students have been working on the following projects:

Kindergarten: is applying the Kid Pix software program to letter recognition activities.

The students are becoming proficient with the drawing, typing and paint tools.

 

Grades 1-3: are applying Kid Pix, Word, Type to Learn and Publisher software to letter

                   writing, critical thinking and drawing.

 

Grades 4-5: are applying  Kidspiration, Power Point, and HyperStudio software to book

                    reports, letter writing, and “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” slide show..

 

Grades 6: is using the Internet and Power Point for a Science project on Communicable

                Diseases and Hyperstudio for an autobiography presentation.

 

Grades 7-8: are using Internet, Word, Excel, Hyperstudio software for Social Studies,

                   Religion, Science and Language Arts assignments
